Neil MacKay – Chairman of the Board
Mr. MacKay is a partner with the law firm MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman LLP, a law firm with offices in Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Calgary. Mr. MacKay’s practice focuses on banking, corporate finance, and resource law. Mr. MacKay has been a director of Arsenal since 2004. Currently, Mr. MacKay chairs the disclosure and governance committee and sits on both the audit and nominating committees.
He has been with us for a very long time and during this time, he helped our company out a lot with his unique set of skills. In order to have a successful company like ours, you must have a chairman that is respected by other employees because he has a very important job. In the oil industry, one of the key things is experience and knowledge and luckily for us, Mr. MacKay is a well-rounded chairman who has both experience and knowledge about the oil and gas industry.
Tony van Winkoop – President and CEO
Mr. van Winkoop has a B.Sc in geological engineering from the University of Saskatchewan with 25 years of multidisciplinary oil and gas experience. After 8 years with a major international company, Mr. van Winkoop co-founded Venator Petroleum in 1988. As VP of exploration Mr. van Winkoop helped build the company from no production to 1600 boe/d. Mr. van Winkoop joined Prime West, when the company purchased Venator, in 2000. As General Manager of Development Mr. van Winkoop built and oversaw Prime West’s development project inventory. Mr. van Winkoop joined Arsenal in July 2006.
Those 25 years of experience are very important for us and that’s why he is the CEO, we completely trust Mr. van Winkoop with all of his decisions because having that many years of experience means that he knows what he is doing. As previously mentioned, in order to have a successful company, you must have experienced people working for you, especially in these top positions where you have no room for a mistake. Not every company can become successful in the oil and gas industry, only the best and the strongest will survive. All of these people that you are going to meet here are dedicated to their job and more importantly, they love being involved in the oil industry.
Mr. Hews is President of Fideliter Inc, a private consulting and investment company with interests in information technology, medical technology and oil and gas. Mr. Hews currently serves on the board of a private company and has previously served on boards of private and public (TSX and TSX-V) listed companies in various roles. Mr. Hews has been a board member of Arsenal since 2003 and currently chairs the audit committee and sits on the compensation, governance and nominating committees.
Mr. Kempthorne is currently an Independent Businessman. Prior to that Mr. Kempthorne previously worked as Vice President of Engineering at All Points Energy Ltd., a private oil and gas exploration and production company, Vice President of Engineering at Gentry Resources and has held other senior positions within Petro-Canada and Imperial Oil. Mr. Kempthorne has extensive industry experience in reserve evaluations, reservoir development, acquisitions, and divestments. He holds a Masters of Engineering degree and an MBA and is a Professional Engineer of APEGGA. Mr. Kempthorne has been a board member since 2008 and currently chairs the reserve committee and sits on the disclosure, governance and nominating committees.
Mr. Powers is a Private Investor and Author. Mr. Powers is currently Chairman of the Board of Petroglobe Inc., a company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. Mr. Powers was the founder of Powers Asset Management, LLC. Mr. Powers has been an Arsenal board member since 2008. Mr. Powers chairs the compensation committee and sits on audit, reserves, governance and nominating committees.
Mr. Petrie is currently employed as a Director for T&T Inspections and Engineering Ltd., a Division of Hyduke Energy Services Inc. Prior to that, Mr. Petrie was the General Manager of Do All Metal Fabrications. Mr. Petrie has an MBA and is a Certified General Accountant. Mr. Petrie has been an Arsenal board member since June 2012. Mr. Petrie sits on Arsenal’s audit and reserves committees.
